Pool Resurfacing

Fibreglass resurfacing for all existing pools

Preparation and repairs are tailored to the construction and condition of each pool.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT SCOPE

Is resurfacing the right solution for your pool?

Pool resurfacing is generally considered when an ageing or damaged interior needs more than a localised repair, or when separate repairs should be integrated into one continuous reinforced lining. It can also create a new fibreglass interior over suitably prepared concrete-based surfaces or as part of a painted, tiled or vinyl-liner conversion.

An initial review can identify the likely pathway, but the full scope cannot be confirmed from colour or age alone. The pool’s construction, visible defects and previous repairs all matter, and some conditions only become clear once the pool has been emptied under controlled conditions and the existing surface is exposed.

The appropriate next step may be

A localised repair where the affected area is limited and the surrounding surface remains suitable

Complete resurfacing where wider preparation and repairs need to be integrated into one continuous lining

A fibreglass conversion or new lining for painted, tiled, vinyl-lined or new concrete interiors

START WITH THE EXISTING INTERIOR

Choose the pool type you have now

Preparation and repair requirements depend on the pool’s construction and whether its current interior can be retained or needs to be removed. Select the closest match below to see the service written for that pool type.

Existing Fibreglass Pools

For moulded fibreglass shells and concrete pools that already have an existing fibreglass lining.

Retained-Surface Conversions

For pebblecrete, Marblesheen and tiled pools, where the existing surface is repaired before the new fibreglass lining is installed.

Liner & Coating Conversions

For painted and vinyl-lined pools, where the existing coating or liner is removed before the new fibreglass lining is installed.

New & Commercial Pools

For new concrete shells requiring an interior lining and commercial pools with project-specific requirements.

COMMON POOL PROBLEMS

Signs your pool may need resurfacing

Surface wear is not always just cosmetic. Cracks, water loss, separating fibreglass and loose or deteriorated finishes can indicate defects that need to be addressed before a new lining is installed.

The visible symptom does not confirm the cause. An assessment determines whether resurfacing is appropriate and whether movement, plumbing or other work is also required.

THE FINISHED RESULT

A reinforced fibreglass interior — not just a new colour

Where resurfacing is suitable, the result is more than a cosmetic colour change. Unsound material is removed as required, identified defects are repaired and levelled, and a continuous reinforced fibreglass lining is installed over the prepared pool interior. The selected AquaGuard colour and finish complete the new surface.

The visible finish is only the final layer. The preparation and reinforced system beneath it form the complete resurfacing system.

THE ENDURATEC SYSTEM

The Enduratec system at a glance

The ENDURATEC System combines pool-specific preparation, compatible vinyl-ester bonding and repair materials, a continuous reinforced fibreglass lining and two UV-stabilised AquaGuard top coats. The preparation and repair scope is adjusted to the construction and condition of each pool.

Two AquaGuard top coats

Two UV-stabilised AquaGuard top coats provide the selected colour and smooth finished surface, with the chosen speckle finish where specified.

Continuous reinforced fibreglass lining

Fibreglass reinforcement is installed across the prepared interior to form one continuous lining, with additional local reinforcement where required.

Compatible bonding, repair and levelling

A compatible vinyl-ester resin/primer system is used with resin-based repair and levelling materials where the assessed condition requires them.

Prepared pool surface

Loose, deteriorated or poorly bonded material is removed as required, and the retained surface is cleaned and mechanically prepared to provide a sound base.

Together, these components create a continuous resurfaced interior rather than a surface-only coating. The final specification remains specific to the pool, its substrate and the repairs identified.

Conceptual system build-up only. Components are not shown to scale, and preparation and repairs vary according to the pool.

FROM ASSESSMENT TO HANDOVER

What to expect during pool resurfacing

Every pool is different, but resurfacing generally follows five stages. The final preparation and repair scope is confirmed after the pool is emptied and the existing surface can be properly inspected.

1
Assess and plan

We review the pool details and photographs and arrange an inspection where required. Once emptied, the exposed interior is checked and the final scope is confirmed.

2
Prepare the existing surface

Loose, deteriorated or poorly bonded material is removed. The retained surface is cleaned and mechanically prepared for the repair and lining work that follows.

3
Repair and level

Identified defects and surface irregularities are treated, rebuilt or levelled as required to create a sound, consistent base.

4
Install the reinforced lining

Fibreglass reinforcement is installed across the prepared pool interior to form one continuous lining, with additional local reinforcement where required.

5
Finish and hand over

Two UV-stabilised AquaGuard top coats complete the selected colour and finish. After curing and inspection, applicable fittings are refitted and guidance is provided for refilling and initial water balancing.
