Marblesheen interiors can become rough, porous, stained and patchy as the cement matrix wears and more marble aggregate is exposed. Cracks, hollow areas and earlier repairs may also be present beneath a surface that otherwise appears serviceable.
Fibreglaze assesses the condition and bond of the existing interior, removes weak or deteriorated material, repairs identified defects and levels rough or uneven sections. The prepared pool then receives a continuous ENDURATEC reinforced lining and selected AquaGuard colour finish. This replaces the ageing cement-based surface with a smoother, seamless interior that is more comfortable underfoot and easier to keep clean.
An inspection can determine whether local repairs are suitable or whether the pool would benefit from complete resurfacing.
Every pool is assessed individually, but the work generally follows five stages—from confirming the scope and preparing the existing surface to installing the reinforced lining and applying the selected finish.
We review the pool details and photographs and arrange a site inspection where required. Roughness, staining, exposed aggregate, cracks, hollow areas and previous repairs are assessed. Once the pool is empty, the condition and bond of the full interior can be checked and the final scope confirmed.
Loose, deteriorated or poorly bonded Marblesheen is removed, while sound areas are cleaned and mechanically prepared. This exposes hidden hollow sections, cracks and surface deterioration and creates a suitable keyed base for the repair, levelling and lining stages.
Cracks, hollow areas, pitting and previous repairs are treated according to their condition and extent. Worn, porous or uneven Marblesheen is repaired and levelled to create a consistent profile and stable base for the new reinforced lining.
A reinforced fibreglass lining is applied across the prepared pool interior to form one continuous system. Additional reinforcement is incorporated where the assessment and repairs require it. The completed lining isolates the ageing cement-based finish and creates an even foundation for the selected AquaGuard colour and surface coats.
Two UV-stabilised AquaGuard top coats are applied in the selected colour, followed by the chosen speckle finish. Once cured, the pool is inspected, applicable fittings are refitted and the hydrostatic valve is replaced where required. Guidance is then provided for refilling, initial water balancing and ongoing care.

Marblesheen pool resurfacing enquiry
Often, provided enough of the Marblesheen and concrete shell beneath it remain sound enough to form a stable base. Loose, hollow, drummy or deteriorated material is removed, while firmly bonded areas are mechanically prepared. Cracks and previous repairs are treated and rough or uneven sections are levelled before the reinforced lining is installed. The work is not simply a coating over untreated Marblesheen; the final preparation and repair scope is confirmed after the pool is emptied and the exposed interior inspected.
Pool size is only one part of the price. The existing surface, access, pool shape, fittings and amount of preparation can have a greater effect. Costs can increase where failed paint, tiles or a vinyl liner must be removed, or where cracks, osmosis, hollow areas, corrosion, movement or an uneven substrate need repair. A useful quotation should state what removal, preparation, repairs, lining, finish and clean-up are included so different proposals can be compared on the same scope.
Both can feel rough, but they affect the surface differently. Calcium scale adds a raised, chalky or crusted mineral layer, often around the waterline or where evaporation is high. A worn finish has lost material and may feel etched, porous, pitted or uneven across broader areas. Scale can also form over an already deteriorated surface. Water testing, inspection and controlled spot testing help distinguish a removable deposit from surface breakdown before aggressive cleaning or resurfacing is recommended.
Many stains can be treated without resurfacing when the underlying finish is sound and the stain type is correctly identified. Organic, metal and mineral deposits require different treatment approaches, so the safest starting point is water testing and a controlled test on a small area. Resurfacing becomes more relevant when stains are deeply embedded, repeatedly return through a porous surface, or occur with widespread roughness, pitting, peeling or earlier failed repairs. Correcting the stain source remains important after either treatment.
